Nell Robinson Listen
New Partnership with John Reischman & the Jaybirds! (Jan 2010)

Nell will be performing and touring with a smokin' backup band to promote her new album: John Reischman, mandolin; Jim Nunally, guitar, slide steel; Nick Hornbuckle, banjo, brushes; Greg Spatz, fiddle; and Trisha Gagnon, string bass.

Nell and the band are available for festivals, venues, and private events.

Nell's Debut Album

"Nell Robinson in Loango" features her warm, sexy vocals for new and traditional bluegrass and country music, and includes performances by album producers Laurie Lewis and Jim Nunally, and world-class musicians, including Keith Little, Tom Rozum, John Reischman and the Jaybirds and others.

The album closes with two bonus tracks by The Henriettas (Nell and Cary Sheldon), our revival of the 1930's sister's act, the Dezurik Sisters, whose barnyard novelty yodeling has tugged at our hearts and become an obsession. Cluck! Tony Marcus is the 1930's Radio Announcer.

The songs produced by Laurie Lewis feature: Laurie Lewis (guitar, fiddle, vocals), Tom Rozum (mandolin, vocals), Todd Phillips (bass), and Patrick Sauber (banjo), with guests Chad Manning (fiddle) and Mike Witcher (dobro).

Loango, Alabama
Small town near the family farm where my mother was born and where several generations of my ancestors settled. There is a store there where we used to buy bottled cokes and boiled peanuts when I was a kid. I expect you still can. It was magical to walk down the dirt road and know that just about every farmhouse had kinfolk in it. A truck would pull up to me, and a fellow I had never met before would yell out the window—Hey are you Irene’s girl? You look just like her! This album is dedicated to my grandmothers, Nell Robinson & Thelma Bates. Picking blueberries, shelling peas, sitting on the porch swing, drinking sweet tea.

Heartfelt Thanks
I am deeply grateful to my producers, Laurie Lewis and Jim Nunally. I sang alone in my car for 25 years and these two incredibly talented and kind folks helped bring my voice out. Love to my husband and daughter for their support, my sisters, brother, and parents, whose strong sense of humor and family roots is so very important to me. Special thanks to: Cary Sheldon, yodelling sister; Larry Carlin, for his generosity and support; Steve Baker; the Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse; Caffe Trieste in North Beach which gave me my first gig; the California Bluegrass Association; Jeff Kazor and Lou Ponticas for critical listening; the world-class musicians who performed on this album and the audiences for turning on a light in me.
